SECRHA League Table Final

London 1 win away from first title!

London Roller Hockey Club are only a solitary victory away from clinching their first title after a 9 point weekend at Herne Bay United’s home SECRHA tournament. It was an early start for the team, leaving London at 6am to make it to the Bay Sports Arena to take on Invicta in their first match of the day. London took a few minutes to get going but soon took a hold of the game, controlling possession and limiting Invicta to only a couple of shots on the London net. The match ended 5-2 in London’s favour.

After a short break London were straight back on the rink to face the organised HBU outfit and found themselves behind after a couple minutes through a deflected goal from the hosts. London rallied and levelled the scores but after a few frantic minutes with the team fouls mounting against them they found themselves behind 3-1 going into the break. The score remained the same deep into the second half, a time-out was called with just over 6 minutes to go, London knew it was now or never if they were going to take anything from this game. Piling on the pressure London executed their attacking plays to level the game with just over 2 minutes left on the clock. Pressuring the ball London were able release a counter attack snatching the winning goal and securing another 3 points with their second win.

The final game of the day was against Herne Bay and after a closely fought first half the scores were tied 1-1 at the break. London worked hard to break down the opposition defence in the second half and the scoreboard was soon ticking over comfortably with some well worked team goals and individual break-away’s. London ran out eventual 8-1 winners to seal the 9 point weekend and move within 3 points of the SECRHA Senior League title.

Well done to all!
