Premier League: London 4-0 Soham

Saturday 19th January 2019

London RHC kept their unbeaten place at the top of the National Premier League title this weekend after a hard fought victory over Soham who had not lost a game until this match.

The game started very quickly with both sides moving the ball well and creating openings. In the final 10 minutes of the match London began to dominate, moving the ball and not giving Soham much to go on, but it took until the 24th minute before a goal arrived when Daniele Biancardi scored a penalty to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The second half started much like the first with both teams playing a high tempo and looking to move the ball, but again London took a stronghold on the game and were rewarded with two well-worked goals, first a slapshot from Yago Otero before Joel De Figueiredo put the game beyond Soham at 3-0 with  a first time sweepshot just one minute later. Immediately after Soham were awarded a blue card for verbal, Yago then added a fourth from a 4×3 PowerPlay to put the game beyond Soham. From here on in London just had to control the game for the final 7 minutes against a tiring Soham side and they did just that.

A really strong performance from London who showed the fitness and patience to beat Soham while keeping their first clean sheet of the season. London remain top of the Premier League table and have one month to prepare for another difficult match away to Middlesbrough.

Starting 5: Marti (GK), Arroyo, Otero, De Figueiredo, N. Santos  –  Biancardi, Maruszak, Lim, Gonzalez  –  Coach: Gisbert
